A dangerous friendship. This ambitious miniseries traces the beginnings of Louis XIII's reign through the relationship between two young women, Queen Anne of Austria and her confidante Marie de Rohan.
The chilling scene takes place on November 28, 1615. Louis XIII is awakened from bed, drunk with exhaustion after the interminable ceremonies of his marriage to the Spanish Infanta Anne of Austria. The Queen Mother, the intractable Marie de Medici, orders the two 14-year-old adolescents, inexperienced and terrified, to consummate their union in order to provide a dauphin for the crown as quickly as possible. The first minutes of the miniseries reveal everything about the incomprehension of hearts and bodies that reigned at the French court at the time.
